History

NOW AVAILABLE AN OPTIONAL BUICK V6 RACING ENGINE WHICH BRINGS THE SPICE BACK TO IT'S ORIGINAL RACING CONFIGURATION IN IMSA! DOCUMENTED HISTORY FOR WORKS SPICE IMSA RACE CAR For 1987 and 1988 Spice Engineering sent two cars to the U. S. to race in the IMSA GTP Light class. For 1987 this Spice #01 won at the 24 Hours of Daytona, Road Atlanta, Riverside, Laguna Seca, Mid Ohio and San Antonio. For 1988 Spice #01 won at Mid Ohio and Portland. Drivers were Bob Earl, Don Bell and Jeff Kline. This Spice, chassis #SE88P 002 GTPL For the 1989 & 1990 IMSA seasons was transferred to Racecraft International to continue competing as #01 in IMSA. Then to HDF (Hugh Fuller) where it became #54, later to Carlos Bobeda Racing, both #32 and #17. The car was sold to Miamian, Mario Alberti where it was stored until 1995. Alberti sold the Spice and for twenty years it had disappeared to Bogata, Columbia. Under the ownership of Don Giovanni Vitalli, who owns Don Giovanni Pasta raced the Spice to at least two six hour endurance championship in South America. Re-imported back into the U. S. in the spring of 2015. Winning eight races in Camel IMSA Light, taking ten pole positions, 28 top five places in Camel Light, ten top tens overall and one top five over all in IMSA, racing in fifty five IMSA events. Originally chassis # SE86L PSGTP 001 and believed to have changed to chassis # SE88P 002 GTPL in the winter of 1988. Through the course of it's racing life the car has competed with the Pontiac 3.0 liter, Buick 3.0 liter and the Chevrolet 6.2 liter. The all alloy 6.2 liter engine is fresh with Donovan alloy block, Brodix heads, Crower rods, double valve springs, & cam, J&E pistons, Jessel roller rocker assembly, roller cam, etc. The Hewland FGC gearbox is in excellent condition. AP brakes, Gotti wheels. AN INTERESTING PARTIAL TRADE WOULD BE WELCOME.
