Description:

Car was built in 1974 for John Rastetter of Tire Rack fame (Dear John in Grassroots Motorsports). At the time, it was a no-expense-spared copy of the BRE Trans Am car as raced by John Morton. It was raced by John in Midwest Council primarily at Blackhawk Farms. John never raced the car in SCCA other than 1 driver's school at Brainerd. In 1978 the car was purchased by John Zizzo, an SCCA racer in small sedans at the time. John raced the car in regionals in Central Division from 1979- 1997. Other drivers in the car while John owned it were Dean Champeau, Larry Ferber, and Ken Bonneau. The car evolved a bit from BS to GT2, GT3, and GT4, but was never changed from a unibody car. It has Wilwood brakes at all 4 corners fed by dual master cylinders and a balance bar, but still uses an L16 engine and Datsun Comp. close ratio roadster gearbox. It would be easily converted back to B Sedan specs for vintage competition, or left as is for SCCA HP. Other enhancements include R 180 4.62 LSD rearend, slotted fully adjustable rear crossmember with spherical pickup points, weight jackers rear, and threaded front struts with adjustable tubular swaybars both ends. Dropped, shortened steering arms in front are attached to Heim jointed tie rods. Front control arms are also mounted in spherical pivots. The engine is a Larry Ferber 1600, with a fully counterweighted Datsun Comp. crank, Carillo rods, Cosworth pistons, and Datsun Comp head with Electramotive billet cam and spraybar behind Weber DCOE 45s and an original BRE manifold. An ATL fuel cell is scavenged by dual Holly pumps and an all Aeroquip fuel system. Clutch is 7.25" Quartermaster. Hood, decklid, and front fenders are fiberglass and very light. There are 2 sets of truly "vintage" Superior 13x7 wheels. That all being said, this car has been in storage for 15 years, and will need a complete going through, depending on your level of preparation. It could be a competitive vintage B Sedan or club racer, without the cost and time of a complete build. A true vintage car with B Sedan history! Raced since 1974, with a change to period correct brakes, this is an SVRA Medallion candidate!
