Description:

The March has had a lot of restoration work done in order to run in the AIS Series.
All major components have been overhauled including: front and rear uprights
(magnafluxed), electrical system, steering gear, anti roll bar (front and rear), front
rockers, oil tank, cooling system, oil system, front and rear suspension (nickel plated),
and front and rear wings (road course). The starter shaft and gears are new and much of the
hardware has been replaced.


History

The 86C March was designed to compete with new CART regulations which applied from 1986 to
the end of 1989. Diffusers were reduced in size and length, the tub floor required to be honeycomb,
sidepods integrated into the driver protection package and rearward visibility improved.
The bulbous March nose was finally gone and the car was a much improved customer car.
The March was perceived to be a better oval car than the Lola. Nine of the top ten places
at the 500 (all save 5th) fell to the 86C, including Bobby Rahal's popular win for an ailing
Jim Trueman. Rahal went on to take the Championship from a closely following Michael Andretti,
also in an 86C.
