1983 March 832 BMW 2 Litre Can Am - SOLD

This is now SOLD. Search for similar items.

Description:

This imposing center-seat, under 2 litre Can Am car is Lou Sell's 1985 Championship-winning
car with it's original Heine Mader BMW. The car has been the object of a comprehensive and beautiful
professional restoration and on it's few outings since has always been highly competitive.

History

The car was produced by March as a full spec 1983 Formula 2 car, designed by Ralph Bellamy.
It was campaigned by Marcus Hotz in that specification. Drivers were believed to be Johnny Cecotto and
Freddi Leinhart.
For the 1984 season it was sold to Kim Campbell as a backup car and saw little if any action.
In late 1984 or early 1985 Lou Sell purchased the car from Campbell and it was reconfigured as an
under 2 litre Can Am as it now appears. The bodywork was developed in Canada but the molds still
exist and are in the UK. Sell won the Championship in 1985 and ran a few races in 1986 when the
car was retired. The current owner bought the car in 1990 and commenced a perfectionist restoration,
bringing it to it's now perfect cosmetic and mechanical condition.
