Description:

2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Car. This is a race ready, museum-quality Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS by Hendrick Motorsports in number 5 Kellogg’s Car Quest trim and was last driven by NASCAR Champion Kyle Busch during the 2006 season. It has Hendrick serial number 5-263, was built in 2003, was updated continuously, and was raced a total of only 7 times, once at Richmond and six times at Martinsville with a best finish of fifth place. It was made obsolete for Nextel/Sprint Cup series by the transition to the COT body for short tracks after the 2006 season. This car is not a rebuilt wreck for show purposes. It finished on the lead lap in the last race it ran. was updated to 2007 trim and specs and spent the 2007 season in the Hendrick shop showroom as a display car. It was bought by the current owner as a rolling chassis directly from Hendrick after the 2007 season. This car is a short track brute with big brakes and lots of cooling blowers and ducts, and was professionally reassembled and set up in September, 2011, by Rhine Enterprises in Denver, NC. It has a fresh documented SB 2.2, 358 CUI, 814 HP Hendrick engine with two dyno sessions and shop time only. This engine sounds GREAT! The dyno operator said there was more horsepower there with additional tuning, but said he did not see pushing the envelope for this application. It has a former DEI T101 transmission, a freshly painted engine compartment, new show sticker tires (hard as rocks, but look good), powder coated wheels, full instrumentation, stainless steel headers, a new CRC radiator custom built to original plans, rebuilt Penske shocks, dual batteries, AP brakes, and is setup square for road courses but can easily be converted for ovals. It also has an extra set of wheels and tires for transporting, and a few other spare pieces, including the original Kyle Busch seat. (I did not fit so I changed it out for a larger seat.) This car belongs in a museum or collector car environment. The fuel cell, fire bottles, wheels, and seat belts are out of date for racing but original, and the windshield has some fogging and scratches. Otherwise this car needs nothing, and is one of the few remaining unmodified examples of 50 years of NASCAR engineering and evolution up through the end of the old body style era. It is clean, straight, authentic, and original. It is increasingly rare to find a car unmodified in any way from the Hendrick configuration. It shows well enough to have been displayed for a year on the Hendrick shop display floor. It has always been pampered and has never been abused. It came straight from NASCAR’s top shop, was driven by two-time champion Terry Labonte and by 2015 champion Kyle Busch and has a documented racing history. Pictures are available.
