Description:

This particular car is the n° 4 chassis produced by Martini for the Peugeot 905 Spider Fench Championship and European
Cup. It was built in August 1993 and was never raced. It has done only 800 km (500 miles) of testing only
and is in as new condition. It comes with a huge spare package including a new engine, a spare bodywork,
wheels and tyres as well as a 1999 updated CDS Track Master data logging system, on its own worth US$ 20,000.
Full documentation including bills, set up sheets, manuals, software, drawings, etc. come with the car.
The gearbox and drive train were overhauled completely by Martini and the car has done just 100 km (60 miles) since.
This is a unique opportunity to acquire a complete racing package in unmolested and pristine condition.

History

Introduced by Peugeot Talbot Sport at the time when the Peugeot 905 EV Sports Cars were on their way to winning their
second Sports Car World Championship title, the Peugeot 905 Spider sports car French championship and European Cup
were to be highly competitive, yet tightly controlled, one-body series intended to attract young talented drivers.
It was run for two years using Peugeot Mi16 220 bhp 2-litre sealed engines. The choice of chassis was free although tightly
controlled as well with sufficiently roomy cockpit dimensions to accomodate all sizes of drivers. Different homologated
manufacturers offered their design of chassis for this sports car bodied single seater, but all bodies were supplied by Peugeot.
Well known Formula Renault, Formula 3 and Formula 2 manufacturer, Tico Martini proposed his version of the 905 Spider
monocoque and produced about 20 cars, an example of which is presented here. Other manufacturers included Orion and
WR. When tested by Tiff Needell for Autosport in 1993, the 905 Spider was declared as being a delight to drive, with
performances comparable with an F3, and also a truly attractive alternative for young drivers tired of F3 and unable to afford
F3000.
