Description:

Motivated Seller.Must sell due to health reasons. The car has undergone a complete, 5 year body-off rebuild/restore effort. The bare chassis was media blasted, welds inspected and reinforced where needed and powdered coated in Dupont Dove Grey powder. The entire car was rebuilt with very few components being reused and special attention paid to insulation and cockpit heat management as these were notoriously hot cards to drive. The car has been reengineered to accommodate a dry-sump, period correct, Ford 310 TA engine built by Elan Power who provided the power plants for the Panoz Trans-AM, GT, and DP cars. This is a lightweight package with a Hutter tuned Holley 750 CFM carburetor, custom hand-built headers and exhaust that made 570hp at 7700 rpm on the engine dyno prior to delivery. Currently, the engine has just over 18 hours on it. The engine is backed up by a new (less than 6 hours of time) Hightower prepared Jerico 4 speed Transmission, mated via a Quartermaster racing clutch. It all connects with a custom heavy duty driveshaft to a Ford 9” nodular housing and rear gear. The rear end housing is a new, reinforced piece and the rear gear is a polished 4:11 ring & pinion with an internal Tex pump feeding a small B&M external cooler mounted in rear section of the car. The cooler has an integral 12v fan and thermostat. Engine cooling is via a Ron Davis racing radiator, Mocal oil cooler, and custom shroud and air box. Pluming is custom C&R braided lines. The front suspension is all new with new a-arms, ball-joints, heim joints, and a new front steering rack. Shocks are Penske adjustable (all rebuilt in 2015) with eibach coils. Brakes are all Brembo components with rebuilt/refinished 6 piston calipers in front, 4 piston rear, new rotors (18 hours), hats and hardware with new (one track weekend) Hawk DT60 race pads. Rear suspension is 4-link watts- link setup with new heim joins. Original once-piece BBS wheels refinished in satin black are 9.50 x 18. The car weights just under 2700 pounds wet with suspension and car setup done in 2015 by Wes Burton in Charlotte NC. The body is fiberglass and was professionally fit and finished with all new latches and braces. Custom aluminum, support plates were built and installed where the roof mounts to the car removing the flex and squeaks. The windshield is a Shield’s Lexan with factory plastic rear window. The car is finished with two coats of Corvette white with sapphire blue mirrors, hood scoop and wing end-plates with “as raced” sponsor decals on the rocker panels. The car has been on the track and has minor stone chips and abrasions typical for a track car. The interior has a custom switch panel and dash with Autometer gauges, brakes bias gauges, large tach. Fire system is a 4L FireSense with driver, engine and fuel cell nozzles. Driver seat is an OMP halo seat mounted on a Sparco slider with Schroth 6 point harness and Schroth side net. The passenger side is set up to accommodate a Racetech instructor seat (included) or is interchangeable with a cool suit cooler mount for race day. The build on this car took five years and resulted in a car that is fast, agile, and is predictable and easy to drive at speed. An SVRA log book was obtained in 2015 and can race in Group 10 with slicks or Group 12 with DOT tires. The car has seen only open track/test time and has not been raced – the car is turn-key and ready to race. The shops that have contributed to getting the car where is today include Hutter Performance, Gary Jones Motorsports, and Paul’s Automotive Engineering. This is a great looking car that with the right driver can run with most GT3s at half the cost and half the maintenance. Two 3-ring notebooks of receipts and design notes along with several photos of the build process along with many spares will go with the car including 2 fuel jugs, radio set up w/2 motorola radios, PTT, helmet set up and crew headset.

History

In 1999 Don Panoz founded the Women's Global GT Series. This was a road racing series open to professional female drivers piloting identically prepared 400- horsepower Panoz Esperante GT racecars. The series ran as the Women's Global GT series for two seasons and this car is chassis and car #11 from that series but is far improved from the original race car. Drivers that raced in the series include Divina Galica, Milka Duno, and Belinda Endress just to name a few. To learn more about the history of the GT-WC car (this in NOT a GT-RA or “school” car) you can look here www.conceptcarz.com/z20083/Panoz-GT-RA.aspxPerformance Data
