Description:

This 1976 Fiat X 1/9 was never a street car. It was purposely built as an SCCA production racecar to "PBS Production Guide" specifications. The car raced SCCA Nationals through 1994 and was then retired and stored in the parts department of the old FIAT dealership where it had been developed and maintained by a factory trained and vastly experienced FIAT and Alfa mechanic. This summer, 2015, the car was fully sorted out, track tested at NJMP in August and is ready to run -- a true turn-key racecar. SCCA log book annual tech dated 08-05-15 (good till 08-2016). The 1500cc engine was freshened with new bearings, new timing belt, new water pump, new clutch assembly; in addition brakes and clutch hydraulics rebuilt, new fuel cell bladder installed, updated seat belts (good till 12-2017), fire system cleaned. As per PBS design, the roll cage rear hoop is integrated into the Targa band, the front hoop is under the dash, bars tie into the suspension mounts front and rear. All 4 shocks are adjustable Carrara coil-over with adjustable camber plates, PBS sway bars and mount for bump steer, driver adjustable brake bias. Blueprinted engine built with Carrillo rods and Wisco pistons 14:1, dry sump and oil thermostat, all lines air-quipped (cooling, oil and fuel), competition PBS radiator and 19 row oil cooler. Fully ported head, flow tested, with matching intake manifold, carb plate, and Bob Thomas carb (36DCNF), Bob Boig adjustable pully, pyrometers. Electromotive HPV3 programmable ignition (I have the original soft ware, transferred to a disc and will run on Windows). Car has stock gear box installed now, there is a fresh close ratio gear box (PBS gear ratios, plus 2 additional 5th ratios), 5â€ twin plate Quartermaster clutch, custom flywheel. The rear is welded locked. Wheels are 3-part Revolution Racing wheels with a fresh set of Hoosier slicks (minus a day and a half of testing) and fresh rains on MiniLites. This car was originally built for a â€œbig guyâ€ then fitted for a smaller driver. (Seat bracket is removable). This car was always a National front runner, driven enthusiastically, fun to drive and toss and never crashed. It was just retired when I moved into another car. Car will be sold with a full fiberglass body kit - 10 pieces of new, never installed fiberglass plus wind screen (Chuck Challis design), close ratio gearbox with 2 additional 5th gears, additional custom flywheel, rains on MiniLights. If you are looking for something different, this is the car - quick and with the mid engine design, fabulous handling. There are many, many, many spares (upon request) including , engine parts from FIAT (new block, head, carb) performance parts from Bob Thomas, cam blank, billot crank, more and more.
