Description:
This Atlantic Championship winner underwent a meticulous professional restoration in 1997-98 by Mark Wehrman Racing. The restoration
cost easily exceeded the asking price. The tub is polished, every fastener is new and avery fitting is polished or plated. It was
restored to the original Shierson racing trim which includes several "tweaks" not available from the factory incliding revised front lower
suspension geometry, bigger rear brakes, and modified airbox location. The car was only campaigned at a small number of events and some
test days and the original engine was found to be lacking. MWE was commissioned to rebuild it to big valve spec and in that guise it has
done exactly one test day. The original owner's focus shifted to Historic F1s and the car passed to the current owner who is scaling back
his racing. The original owner is a professional racer and felt that the car drove superbly. It is offered for sale in pristine condition.
History
This is the 1980 Formula Atlantic Championship winning car, prepared by Douglas Shierson Racing and driven to victory by Jaques Villeneuve.
The car was authenticaed by Doug Shierson himself at the 1998 Watkins Glen Formula 1 Reunion. It is painted in the color it appeared in
it's championship season but has not been stickered in it's original Barbardier livery (the Canadian snowmobile and bizjet manufacturer). The car is
featured in a full page color photo on page 38 in "The Atlantic Championship" by John Zimmerman. The car is accompanied by a complete copy of the original
Shierson Racing setup sheets from all track events in it's championship season.
