1984 March 84G "Spirit of Miami" Ready to race - SOLD

The March is of an aluminium honeycomb monocoque construction with a fibreglass body, it is powered by a small block Chevy V8, 6 litre, 530 hp, 500ft lb torque, gearbox is Hewland DGB. The car was purchased from the USA in 2007 it was then totally rebuilt to original including all new wheel bearings, tanks, complete engine and gearbox overhaul, 546 total miles from original rebuild. End of season rebuild including complete suspension crack test, engine complete rebuild and dyno tested - zero miles since - car race ready and stored in heated garage. Fabulous car with history a reliable and effective way into IMSA GP racing. In car video on Utube 24hr Le Mans support race.


History

EMERSON FITTIPALDI, the only driver in history to win two F1 World Championships, two Indianapolis 500 Championships and an Indy Car World Championship. John Kalagian acquired the car in 1984 and raced it at Watkins Glen, Portland, Sears Point, Road America, Pocono, Michigan, Watkins Glen, Daytona Finale. In 1985 John Kalagian traded the car back to March. Jim Bell crew chief saw the 1984 car (84G 05) sitting there and did a deal to run this car for the 1985 Miami Grand Prix with drivers EMERSON FITTIPALDI and local hero TONY GARCIA. After that event the Brassfield's Darrin and father Jerry did a deal to race the car for 1985 and raced at Daytona 24hr, Miami, Sebring, Road Atlanta, Riverside, Laguna Seca. In 2007 Pat Thomas of Kelvedon Motors brought the car back from America. It was then fully rebuilt and painted in the Miami livery, Pat raced the car in Group C at Silverstone Classics, Spa, Le Mans 24hr support race, Donington Park etc, winning his class in the Championship.
