Description
This is the factory car as built by Bob Tulius at group 44 and features all of the original mechanical
components of that era.
History
Raced successfully in USA by group 44 and was purchased by Leyland Australia to race here to coincide with
the release of the TR7 in Australia. It was sponsored by Playboy and thus painted black and was driven
successfully by Bill Evans who had previously been a Bathurst campaigner. It won the under 2 Litre class
that year(1978). It was then sold to its present owner in 1979 and has raced consistently up until 1998.
It may be noted that the original motor/gearbox/and differential unit were replaced in 1977 with a 16 valve
engine, 5 speed cr gearbox and larger rear end, thus the original units are low mileage and have been rebuilt
before conversion back to original specs. More info can be found in the September 1977 issue of Road & Track
magizine or the Vintage Triumph register Website.
