Description
This car was fully restored during 1994 in France. It is strictly in accordance with the original specificaton
and has complete FIA papers. The original Cosworth DFV engine was removed and the car is now fitted with a dummy
engine. The car's livery is as it was at the beginning of it's maiden season of 1979.
History
The 09 was the car used by Tyrrell during the 1979 Formula 1 season. Designed by Maurice Philippe, it was the
first ever ground effect Tyrrell. It placed 5th in the 1979 Constructor's Championship, driven by Didier Pironi
(number 3) and Jean-Pierre Jarier (number 4). The best placings of the season were third at Zolder for Pironi driving
chassis no. 1 as well as third at the US Grand Prix. Jarier finished third at the South African Grand Prix and
third at the British Grand Prix.
Recent Competition History
This car participated successfully in historic F1 races a few years ago with placings at Donington, the Nürburgring,
Magny Cours, etc.
