1967 McKee Mk7 Can Am SOLD

Mechanic's Condition Report as of 10/1/97

Note that this is mostly a list of recommended, not required work.

1) leakdown: 1)8% 2)12% 3)14% 4)10% 5)8% 6)18% 7)12% 8)14% although leakdown is OK engine could be freshened.

2) could fit round oil tank 12 qt capacity to replace current square tank for better feed to engine and breather control.

3) send complete intake system to Kinsler for rebuild, throttle spindles worn, should not go another event.

4) could replacing injection with ported 4 barrel Holley for better driveability with no decrease in performance. Will increase life of starter and flywheel.

5) make improved throttle return spring system, currently mounted to exhaust bracket, not foolproof.

6) not cracked checked since 92? suspension, uprights, steering arms, output flanges and gearbox internals.

7) radiator is on borrowed time, epoxied in 93 season, needs rebuild

8) gear box tear down, inspect, crack test, replace carrier bearings and seals. Carrier bearings were replaced after every race when cars were run in period, chromate case to prevent oxidation.

9) brakes- rebuild calipers, replace masters, replace all hard lines. replace line fittings, should be steel. crack test rotors. fit dash adjustable brake bias.

10) clutch- inspect discs and cover- surface flywheel- inspect ring gear. replace clutch master and slave cylinder.

11) send shocks to koni for inspection and rebuild.

12) both inner steering joints have slight play, tear down and inspect, crack check plnion and rack.

13)remake shift linkage w/new apex joints. fit stops for side to side play in gearbox.

14) make solid, one piece upper and lower front a-arms.

15) fit purosil cooling hoses.

16) remake alloy dash- currently a mis-mash of 3 pieces of alloy and plates for gauge filters. can make a tacho housing for better visibilty at the same time- relocate switches for easier access.

17) replace fuel arms.

18)chassis should be sand blasted and thourghly inspected. hasn't been done since 1990.

19) re-arch front fenders to prevent wheel rub. make permanent brake cooling ducts integral to the nose, currently a very ineffective add on. paint the nose.

20) front sway bar should be increased to 1 inch. currenly 11/16. requires 2 mounting blocks.

21) seat belts are out of date

22) can modify roll bar to accept 2 rear stays which would go to rear transom. safer and they would substantially stiffen the engine bay. would remove down stay in cockpit.

23) modify rear deck for flip up operation. inner fenders need to be modified to stay down with chassis.

24) should adapt a rev. limiter for the magneto.

25) headers are rusty and may start to crack. purchase coat and fit new headers

26) brake cooling ducts at rear are not connected, should make a bolt on receiver to the caliper for a hose from the sidepod.

27) get a spare set of wheels- fit rain tires.

28) polish aluminum side panels

29) paint all body panels- all are a little rough. fill in dzus holes and redrill for better alignment.
