History
This rare front engine specimen was only built for one season (1960). It's 1100 cc Fiat engine is tilted at
an angle of 15 degrees to improve carburation and exhaust flow. With its twin Webers it reached a top speed
of 132-137 mph. It's a well balanced car with the driver seated in a roomy center cockpit. Rodger Ward of Indianapolis
fame piloted this model racer in the Vanderbilt Cup Race in June 1960. As late as 1963 W. T. Hotchkiss won the Sebring
Formula Junior front engine division. This is believed to be the actual Rodger Ward car.
This car was acquired from a California (US) owner in the late '80s and has never raced since then.
Prior to that it was owned by Judge Parker. He acquired the car from the Canadian racing family, the
Bakers, in the mid 80s. The Bakers acquired the car in late 1979 from an owner in New Jersey.
They undertook a complete restoration including much new bodywork, however the original tail section was
retained. They added a rollover bar, removeable front crossmember, and gearbox scatter shield. A new
DeDion rear was fabricated.
