Description
The Autosport Special. This is the second Canada Class car built by Bob Hanna of Autosport, Toronto Ontario. The car was started in the late 50’s and completed by ’62. It’s a front engine, single seat Canada Class based on the drive train and suspension of a Triumph Standard 10. Tube chassis, 1147 cc Triumph engine, Lotus 11/Austin A30 close ratio gearbox, “Chapman Strut” style IRS by Bob Hanna, modified Triumph differential center section with inboard brakes, aluminum body designed by Frank Duda and built at Autosport. The car was inspected by Bob Hanna and is still in original condition. The suspension, steering, brakes and chassis have been repaired or rebuilt as necessary. The differential and half shafts have been completely rebuilt. Bob removed the original drive shaft transfer case shortly after the car was built, as it was unreliable. I have had a new one fabricated by Ron Rogers of Protofab and installed it in the car. I have not disassembled the engine or gearbox. The engine runs strong, no smoke and excellent oil pressure. The gearbox shifted well during an “around the shop” road test. The car is complete and in running condition. It still needs tires, paint, safety equipment and sorting. It comes with some spares. I also have a folder of info, letters from Bob, some pictures, history and previous owners.
