Description
1969 Datsun 2000 Roadster purchased in 1997. Car was disassemblied, inspected and restored over the next year. Restoration includes but not limited to sandblasting of body, minor rust repair and painting. Every inch of this vehicle was inspected. No original hardware remains. Raced regularly until late 2002. This race ready steel bodied vintage race car includes an extensive list of new or recently rebuilt items. List includes a recently rebuilt and balanced engine. Crankshaft is standard dimension. It was crack checked,then nitrited, balanced and polished. Attached to the crank are a set of new Carrillo rods with new Venolia pistons and Total Seal rings in freshly honed 3.481 inch bores. Interior of block has been deburred and sanded. Oil passages have been enlarged. Oil pump sleeve has been machined to improve oil flow. Oil pump has been modified to incorporate an external oil pressure adjuster. Custom made 8 quart oil pan with windage tray and baffles makes sure the oil stays around the pump. Cylinder head has been re-conditioned including new valves, seals, springs aluminium retainers and rockers. New Racer Brown cam is lubricated by a cam tower spray bar. Original crank pulley has been replaced with an ATI fluid filled pulley resting on a custom made hub. Header is a BRE type header with equal length 1 3/4 primary tubes exsisting through a 2 1/2 diameter pipe. Ignition is controlled via a MSD 6A and Pertronix ignitor. This vehicle is equipped with a Nissan Motorsport Option 2 Ultra-close transmission rebuilt in 2001 with a new 1st gear, new bearings, synchro rings anchor and thrust blocks, coupler sleeves and shift forks. Shifting is completed via a Tilton steel flywheel, pressure plate and dual 5 1/2 inch clutch discs. Driveshaft was replaced with a custom unit in 1999 utilizing stronger U-joints. Summer Brother rear axles were matched to the Nissan Comp LSD in 1998. At that time a 4.38 ring and pinion was installed in addition to new differential bearings and hardware. Front and rear suspensions have been improved with the help of custom made Koni 8212 double adjustable shocks and Eiback front springs, Nisson Comp rear leaf springs and front sway bar. Front ball joints are new. Rear leaf spring bushings were replaced. An adjustable panhard rod aids rear differntial stability. Steering tie rods have been replaced with hiem joints. Porterfield kevalar front brake pads and rear shoes help the vehicle stop with confidence. The stock pedal cluster has been replaced with a Tilton dual master cylinder assembly with balance bar and remote cable adjuster. Front discs are vented and slotted. Additional extras include Panasport wheels with new Hoosier Street TD tires, BRE front fiberglass spoiler, (spook), Kirky race seat, Simpsom camlock belts, FireBottle fire system, 3 quart Accusump, transmission reverse lockout, full instrumentation including dash warning lights and a Grant steering wheel attached to a removable collar. All hardware used to assembly this vehicle is either grade 8, 10.9 or mil spec. Although this vehicle is well developed, it is by no means at it's limit. Additional adjustments will most certainly yield reduced lap times. No expense was spared to build a safe, fun competitive roadster. This ready to race vehicle is being sold due to the arrival of a new child and the realization that I have too many race cars and projects. Other than adjustments for the new racer's comfort, this vehicle is truly ready to go. All fluids have been replaced, vehicle is clean.
