Description
This was the car that Rick Mears was leading the 1981 Indy 500 in when fuel was spilled on him resulting in burns that prevented him from continuing in the race. Bobby Unser went on to win the race in a sister car. Mears dominated that years chamionship in the extremely successful Penske design. Sponsors were Gould and AB D ick. Chief Mechanic, Peter Parrott.
The car is in extremely original and unmolested condition. The car was built by Penske Cars, Ltd., Poole, Dorset, England.
History
The PC9B was another dominant Penske design and was the tool for a superb Mears Championship. Rick's wins in the PC9B for the year included Michigan, Phoenix, Atlanta, and Pocono.
