After the war Sweden had discovered American style midget racing, and naturally followed American practice. They designed high, front engined cars powered by Harley Davidson V-twins. In 1947,all of this changed with the emergence of the brothers Hakannsson. They built built a low, sleek, rear engined racer. It sported a strong, chrome moly tube frame, and quarter elliptic springs. After completion the car resembled a miniature Auto Union. They installed a 40bhp JAP with a Norton gearbox and were off to the races. Neither of the brothers was interested in driving, so they obtained ex-Husqvarna team member Ake Jönsson to drive for them in the car they named Effyh-"Eff" for Folke "y" for Yngve and "h" for Hakansson. It was immediately successful.
After cleaning house at the dirt tracks, the brothers settled on developing a car to compete in the Swedish TT tarmac road races. Five TT cars were prepared for the 1950 season, and great succes ensued. It was not until Rheims that the Effyh met up with the Coopers. There Jönsson took second to Alf Bottoms in a JBS-in one of the few races not won by a Cooper.
Orders poured in, with 16 orders coming out of South America alone. Reportedly, the Hakansson brothers built 57 Formula 3 and dirt track cars. The cars ordered for South America disappeared along with the money and the buyer.
