Description
The car was purchased in the UK by the current owner 6 years
ago in running condition. It was then fitted with a carburetted BDA engine.
The owner sold the engine with the intention of starting the
restoration of the car. He then lost interest in the project.
The car is fairly complete and original as it was a runner when
purchased.
History
The 712 monocoque was the first of a long
series of successful March formula cars. This basic design was used for many years with just slight
adaptations. The 712 was the class of the field in 1971 with 10 race wins.
Ronnie Peterson won six races in the works car and got the F2 title that same year.
Cars were usually fitted with the Cosworth FVA engine. This chassis number refers to the car driven by 'Tino' Brambilla
in the 1971 European Formula 2 Championship, entered by Scuderia
Ala d'Oro.
Recent Competition History
The car was raced in 1988 in the HSCC championship in the UK. There is no other competition
history afterwards.
