This car has been restored to the original 1973 specifications, the only 73A that exists today in this configuration; original Swiss Morand engine with original Morand nameplate; Lucas Fuel injection; DG-300 gearbox rebuilt by Craig Taylor; brakes have been updated to 4 pod calipers for safety purposes; raced only 4 times since restoration; original March wheels and spare BBS fronts; everything new or rebuilt; well detailed and period authentic; ready to race; spare gear sets; featured car in the www.marchives.com site and restoration history detailed in the March 2001 Victory Lane;
The car was built for John Gunn early in 1973 and was raced in the UK. in three Formula 5000 events: Brands Hatch, Silverstone and Mallory Park, It carried the Gunn/Crane Cams March colors. Campaigned next in the 1973 SCCA Formula 5000 series as either the Gunn/Crane Cams March or the Roman Brio March (the Roman Brio colors were bright purple). In 1974, the car was known as the Marchal March sponsored by what I think was the French headlight company Marchal. In mid-1974, John Gunn sold the car to Les Hudelson from Long Beach, CA. John Gunn ran the car at Laguna Seca and Riverside in 1974 after which the car was put into storage. I purchased the car and restoration was complete in 1998.
