Description
I purchased this car from Ricky Rudd Motorsports when he sold his team in 1999 to go drive for Robert Yates. The car has a Ronnie Hopkins chassis that was purchased by Rudd in 1994. It would have had a Thunderbird body at that time. It was campaigned by Rudd on road courses from 1995 through 1998. After the 1998 season, Rudd Motorsports painted and reconditioned the chassis and body and that is how the car appears today. It was outfitted with the "Hydrogen Peroxide" special decals that the team used for a short period. It was not run in 1999. I have driven the car twice since I purchased it. Both times on a oval track. It runs well but would need to be set up to run a road course. A lot of the measurements used for set up are still on the car in handwritten notes on tape.
History
This car was Ricky's primary road course car. It was used at Watkin's Glen and Sears Point from 1995 through 1998. It became his backup car in 1999.
