Description
This Corvette was purchased new by Ray Knight of the Falls City Corvette Club of Louisville, Kentucky. It came with the big block,390 hp,four-speed and the transistor ignition of that year. In 1971, Ray Knight converted it to an NCCC Group III car. At the 1973 convention in Indianapolis he DNF'd when the Corrvette lost a argument with the fence near turn 11 at IRP. The 1973 nose clip was then added. Berry Sanders bought the car and sold it a few years later to Bobby Williams, one of NCCC's former National Champions, of the Anderson Corvette Association. Several years later John Vaughn of the Lafayette Corvette Club bought the car. He competed with it in NCCC's RP class for several years befor selling it in 1989 to Bob and Tim Graham and Doug Grenard of the Lafayette Corvette Club. The car was modifyed to a 350 with a two-speed powerglide and 3.70 gear. The group ran every speed event in the Indiana region in 1990 and Doug Grenard was quite successful finishing third in the Region with over 300 points. Some time later Tom Sadecki purchased the car and raced the car in SCC/BP and Vintage AP in 1994 and 1995 in the midwest area (log book). The car was purchased by Larry Neely and raced in the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association in 1995,1996 and 1997 (log Book). The car is now raced in the Corinthian Vintage Auto Racing Association, a member of the vintage motorsports council, and classed as Group 1 - FIA and is currently #2 in points at mid season with a novice driver.
