Description
A documented B29 F2, this car was last raced in 1985 as a C Sports Racer. Apparently
the conversion was sympathetic to the original car and the tub appears to be unmolested. Furthermore,
the original bodywork was retained. The car requires a full resoration but is complete to the
point of having spares. The FT case looks undamaged and all four uprights appear to be in good
shape with no signs of repair. A BDA bare head and short block come with the car.

History
Chevron had a relatively low presence in F2 in 1975, concentrating their efforts in Formula
Atlantic. They were just pipped by Tony Brise in a Modus and had Jim Crawford had proper funding
they would almost certainly won. Gunnar Nilsson took a string of 4 straight wins at season's end.
In North America Bill Brack won the Players Atlantic series for the second year running in his B29.
This car was campaigned in the 1975 Formula 2 championship by Fred Opert for his young
Mexican protege, Hector Rebaque. Opert was confident that Hector was ready for F2 after only a year
in Atlantic, despite his being only 19 at season's start. This B29 was the only Chevron on the
grid at the first race at Estoril, where he went out with a puncture. He surprised everyone by
finishing fourth at the second round at Thruxton, equalling the B29's best result for the season.
By the third round at Hockenheim a second Chevron team appeared under the banner of the French
Chevron agent but were handicapped by Simca engines. There was no works involvement until late in the
year when Austrian Hans Binder became disatisfied with his March-BMW.
Opert brought this car back to the States at the end of the season and ran it in Atlantic
trim until it was sold on. At some point it was converted to a C Sports Racer, which is how it last
ran in 1985.
