Description
This car represents a newly built recreation of one of the “Group 2” BMW 2002 Ti as campaigned during the ETCC in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. Built from a rust free LHD import from Arizona the car is finished in a suitably period bright green and sports the correct homologated “Schweinebacken” wheel arches in addition to Lexan windows and rear screen. The car has a freshly issued FIA HTP and is consequently eligible for a number of quality historic racing events including the Spa 6 Hours “Eau Rouge Trophy,” Masters “Touring 70’s” races, GTC-TC Series and the German “Youngtimer Trophy.” The specification of the car and its attention to detail is a credit to the very high level of race preparation that has been undertaken by the experienced firm that have built the car and it has done little over 2 hours of running since completion. The engine is a 210bhp version of BMW’s famous M10 unit and has a polished and lightened crankshaft, steel conrods, JE forged pistons and a two piece aluminium flywheel driving an AP Racing paddle clutch. The cylinder head has been professionally gas flowed and features stainless steel oversize valves, billet rockers, uprated valve springs and a Schrick 328 degree camshaft. The engine is fitted with a tubular 4 into 1 exhaust manifold and is fed by a matched pair of newly refurbished Italian made Weber 45 DCOE carburetors. The gearbox is the correct period specification Getrag 235/5 close ratio 5-speed unit, whilst the differential is a ZF limited slip model. The gearbox, propshaft and driveshafts were all overhauled with new components where necessary. The car’s suspension has been fitted with polyurethane bushes all round and is fitted with correct period Bilstein dampers and uprated anti roll bars. The car is fitted with the homologated 13”x7” Minilite wheels complete with new Yokohama A048 tyres. Inside the car has Stack instrumentation, Corbeau Seat, in date 6-point Sabelt harness and a new fully plumbed in Lifeline fire extinguisher. The whole package is prepared to a superb standard and is on the button ready to go; benefiting from full FIA papers the car represents a tremendous opportunity for someone to purchase a newly built car that would provide access to a number of high quality historic race series.
