Description
Street E30 M3 turned it into a race car. I managed and supervised all work. Local race car fabricator installed excellant roll cage with conections to strut towers, sub-frame and diff mount. Car is still basically a stock production tub chassis and not a purpose built tube frame race car. The engine and drivetrain are extremely reliable. The apperance and physical condition are very good. The car is race ready except for putting good tires on it. Technical highlights. 2.5 litre engine with Wiesco pistons. 284 intake cam and 276 exhaust cam. Complete full race ECU fuel injection and ignition system from DTA of England. Include software for PC (laptop) control of engine functions. Custom made increased output and flow matched fuel injectors. Has custom 60 tooth crank wheel and crank sensor. Also has ECU feedback from MAP sensor, Throttle Position sensor, Air and Coolant sensors. Getrag 5 speed close ratio tran. 410 and 373 :1 diffs. Gruppe A lightweight flywheel. Accusump oil system, fuel cell, and fire suppression system. Rear sub-frame raised and solid mounted as well as solid bearing mounts for trailing arms. Custom brake system. Seperate front and rear master cylinders and reservoirs with balance bar to control brake bias. Front and rear liquid filled brake bias pressure gauges. Front brake cooling kits with SS brake lines.
History
The E30 M3 was only classified in one class and that was GT-2 class in SCCA club racing. We raced 2001 thru 2003 and finished every race we started. Even though we were not real competitive at first with the fastest cars, we finished 4th in 2001 and 2002 and 3rd in 2003 in the Southeast regional. The engine and drivetrain is extremely reliable and and the car stays close in the long straights, so it has plenty of HP.
