Description
1982 Pontiac J2000 GM factory backed Pro built IMSA RS vintage eligible race car with NASA log book. It passed 2010 annual tech but was last raced in 2009. I am recovering from back surgery and have not had a chance to race it. The previous owner reported a loss of compression in one or two cylinders but I just got it running and everything seemed fine so I am unaware of what the problem is, but there is a chance that it will have to have the piston rings done! It has a 1.8L Brazilian Opel motor with 2bbl Holley carb, 5 speed transmission, ATL fuel cell with roll over check valve, Accusump oiling system with external filter , central fire suppression system, coil overs with adjustable camber plates up front. Spares include an extra race seat, spare set of alloy wheels, new steering rack, spare cam, dual carb intake manifold, extra differential and other misc parts. This car was a GM "white chassis" pulled off the assembly prior to being stamped with a V.I. number and built by a Pro race shop for the IMSA RS series in the 80's. As far as I know this car was never raced in period, not making it to the track until the mid 90's in vintage racing, so this car has had very little track time not showing any signs of any major damage. This car was meticulously built and in very good shape. Other than the possible issue with the motor this car will need little else to be race ready. The car is garaged in Medfield MA, approx 15 miles west of Boston and can be viewed by appointment.
History
12 Vintage RS races from 1999-2009. It was raced on West coast from 1995 but do not have any history.
