Description
Scarab is a Triumph motorcycle powered special style similar to a Mk9 cooper. Built 1958 in Sydney by Henry Nehrybecki,it is the last remaining car of the 3 built. The car has a steel tube space frame with fibreglass upper body and aluminium lower panels.A Triumph pre-unit motor and gearbox is mounted behind the driver with chain drive to the rear axle(no diff). Extensive restored by current owner in 2007/8 and is now fitted with an onboard electric starter. New aluminium body panels and restored fibreglass sections.The is currently used at historic meetings in Australia.
History
Built in 1958 the car has been mainly enterd in New South Wales circuit and hill climb events. It has had approx ten owners. It is currently used each 2 - 3 months in Regularity events and has proven to be one of the most reliable air-cooled cars in Australia.
