Description

This 1960 Volvo 544 is an ex-Hans Dunnstrom B-Sedan racer, and comes with FIA papers in Swedish. Dunnstrom raced here in the States in 1963 and 64, including the 1964 4 Hours of Sebring where the car finished 2nd in Class. During 1965 and 66, William Ross raced the car at Southeast Ghost Tracks in Bainbridge Georgia, and Selma, Montgomery, and Courtland Alabama. Ross had several first in class wins. The car maintains it’s tan & blue colors with nice patina and was always stored indoors when not on the track. It is available in Cullman, Alabama USA 35055 for $18,500. From 1967 to 1969, George and Steve England had many 1st in Class wins at tracks in Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, and Oklahoma, including a jaunt to Riverside California fr the ARRC in 1968, where they faced the Porsche 911’s. Check out the official results here. The car was retired from racing after the 1969 season In 1989, Steve brought the car back to the track for SCCA certification and therefore now includes SCCA logbook 30-198. Prepared “AS RACED in SCCA B Sedan 1968 “ Lowered 3″ front and 2″ rear, has Koni shocks on 4 corners, Cerrametallic brake shoes front and rear, B 18B engine to FIA specs with tubular header and oil cooler, 4 speed long ratio synchro transmission, DANA Limited Slip rear 4.11 ratio, 5 point belts are , of course, out of date, speedometer replace with tachometer, oil pressure, water temp. The engine is currently out of the car for freshening. A spare transmission, camshaft, high compression head, clutch, and several boxes of spares from the race campaign go with the car. The exterior finish is plenty good to retain and would keep the period colors. We asked for period photos and he does not have any, but he did mention that Steve England is still alive. Maybe be contacted for more history on the car.The car has a very cool vintage look thanks to the vintage single bucket seat . This car would be an easy entrant at almost any vintage racing event once sorted and shined. Unusual to find that it is available in this form.
