Description
A well known piece of NZ motorsport history this car has just been fully restored by Bateman Racecars with a 1650cc L block pre cross flow Ford engine using a Cosworth dry sump pump, 125E rods & Mahle pistons, all new valves & springs. The original Hamlin & Charles head is on the engine along with 2x40DCOE's. The gearbox is also fully rebuilt & has a Griffiths Supersport short shift remote. The rear end is a narrowed Ford unit. Front suspension is the original split Ford I beam with Koni shocks. The front stub axle carriers are aluminium. Steering rack is Hillman Imp. Wheels are the original Hustlers. The car is fully wired for the refitting of the headlights etc required to make it road legal again. Fitted with 1 meeting old Avon Historic tyres Since resto it has done approx 4 meetings including the Mallock anniversary meeting at Taupo and 2 NZ festival of motor racing meetings. Well balanced & going quick.
History
This Mallock was the first in NZ, built in 1964 by Jack Oakley & used by him as both a race car and a road car. The car had 2 or 3 other owners before Jack bought the car again in 1990 rebuilding & using it for a year. It then fell into disuse before we bought it from his son & have fully restored it. The car comes with copies of all Jacks correspondence with Arthur Mallock in the UK, and some history. There is a lot of historic photographs that come with the car & detail some of its history
