Description
This is one of the finest 51's in the country today. This package includes the original Renault transmission as well as the original Armstrong shocks that I will include with the car. I purchased this car in 1995 after it had gone through a minor restoration. It had been raced with the SCCA prior to this but I have no earlier history. I relocated out of the country shortly thereafter and had it professionally prepped and stored. I returned in 2000 and began participating with it in 2002 after installing a hewland transmission and going through the car. It was completely restored in 2005/2006 taking it down to the bare frame and performing an extraordinary rebuild. Engine work was completed by MWE and Taylor has done all of the transmission work. It was again refreshed in 2007/2008 with new fuel cell by Fuelsafe, 6 point belts by OMP and the list goes on. I have competed in only 17 events (usually 2-3 per year) since 2002 with the last event in August 2008 at NJMP. It has been a consistent trophy winner at the Road and Track Concours d'Elegance held each year in conjunction with the Kohler/Brian Redman event each July at Road America. This car has been meticulously maintained and extremely reliable and always well received by every vintage organization in which it has participated. This car was built using Monoposto regulations and specs.
