Description
This car was the prototype Grand Sport built by Duntov Motor Company in 2005, and was the example used by General Motors to award Duntov the exclusive authorization to build these continuation vehicles. The car was raced in HSR and SVRA events from 2005 to 2007, scoring wins at Road America, Salt Lake City and Monterey. The car was restored in 2010 with new interior, new authentic Grand Sport body panels, and new paint. It has a newly rebuilt Auto Pro M-22 transmission and McLeod twin disk clutch. The instrumentation is correct 1963 Grand Sport, including the 200 MPH speedometer. It has never been driven on the street, although it is well equipped to do so now.
History
Completed in March 2005, it's first race was the March HSR event at Sebring, where it finished third overall in the all Corvette race. The car was presented as closely as possible to the specifications of the first big block engined Grand Sport that ran at Sebring in 1965. In 2006 the roll cage was extended through the firewall which improved both safety and handling. It scored its first win at the SVRA Koehler Brian Redman event at Road America in July. The next race was the HSR East-West Challenge at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah, and we one that as well. The car went on to win the SCCA USRRC race at Monterey in August and closed the season winning the CVAR event at Cresson, Texas.
Recent Competition History
Wins at Cresson, Road America, Miller Motorsports Park and Monterey. Worker Choice Award (favorite car) Miller Motorsports Park 2006.
