Description
Starting with a fully welded and gusseted frame per. the official GM Performance Manual. The accident free body received a proper restoration and paint while on a frame dolly. Dick Guldstrand, and his team of Corvette experts installed: GM ZL-1 Limited Edition Fuel Injected Engine ,Suspension, Steering, Brakes, Flywheel, Clutch, Pressure Plate, Fresh 3:55 Posi. Clutches, Power Rack and Pinion using only GM Parts, Hi Performance Hydraulic Pump, 4 Point Rollbar, (welded to the frame), Ultra Rare 200 MPH Speedo, Fuel Injection, One of a kind (we made it) custom black Carbon Fiber L-88 intake base, and custom Stainless Steel thermally coated headers. Dick and I had discussed doing a series of these cars based on the Garner A.I.R Corvette's that Dick Raced in the 60's. Original Guldstrand Prepared /A.I.R. cars have sold for over $600,000. The idea behind this Corvette was to offer all the looks and power of the original cars but with better drive-ability, engine life and a MUCH lower purchase price. The paint is excellent with only minor tiny chips or imperfections. Absolutely only a few. Definitely show quality but can be driven and enjoyed. Interior is 90% original and very nice.
History
"This Corvette started it's life as a 390 HP Daytona Yellow Coupe With Black Int and 4spd.. It was purchased from a Chevrolet Dealership 10 miles from Baldwin Motion N.Y. (Store number 001 in 1968.) According to the original owner, the car was taken to Baldwin Motion for Modifications with only a few miles on it. Baldwin Motion could not always get cars from GM and did source them from other dealerships. In the 80's I found the car in N.J. where it had been sitting inside for quite a few years. The odometer read around 40,000. I installed a 454 and drove it for a few years. I moved to San Diego and left the car sitting back east. Technically this car is not a "Baldwin Motion" car as, according to Baldwin Motion, it was probably brought to Baldwin by it's owner when new and not delivered to Baldwin directly from GM for modification. See the photo of this actual car 35+ years ago.
