These cars were originally designed and built to compete in European Group 5 in normally aspirated form. later, when BMW decided they wanted to compete in Formula one with their 4 cylinder M12 series of engines they decided that IMSA was the place to learn, so they gave the project to Mclaren in Michigan due to their experience with Indy car turbocharging. the cars were then made to run in IMSA GT then ultimately in GTX. the car needs restoration and the picture is not current.
